Cowgills raise £5,500 for Cancer Research

Cowgills has selected Cancer Research as one of the charities to support throughout 2019 and 2020.

Commenting on the event, Rob Lord, Partner at Cowgills said: “Golf days like this are a great way to bring together local businesses to raise awareness of a great charity. We are extremely grateful for their involvement in helping us raise a huge amount for Cancer Research. A great day was had by all and we can’t wait for next year’s annual golf day.

I would personally like to thank Sean Owen and everyone at Bolton Old Links Golf Club for their hospitality and smooth running of the day.

As a firm we look forward to continuing our fundraising efforts for this amazing charity to help them continue the great work they are doing.”

Sean Owen added: “It was a pleasure to host the annual Cowgills charity golf day. It was great to see so many people coming together to raise a great amount of money for such a worthy cause.”

Rob Davies, Fundraising Manager at Cancer Research said: “On behalf of everyone at the charity – our doctors, nurses, scientists and patients – I’d like to say a huge thank you to Cowgills for dedicating their annual golf day to Cancer Research. Cancer survival rates have doubled in the last 40 years which represents incredible progress, but still around 164,000 people in the UK die from cancer every year, that’s almost 450 people per day. So the work cannot stop, and we are relentless in our pursuit to accelerate progress and bring forward the day when all cancers can be cured.  Lifesaving breakthroughs are made possible thanks to the generous support of companies like Cowgills and the people who attend fundraising events. The amount raised at the golf day was phenomenal, and this money will help to create a world where nobody has to live in fear of cancer. Thank you!”

The golf day is part of a wider programme of fundraising activity for Cowgills. This year will see Cowgills supporting Bolton Lads and Girls Club, Bolton Hospice, Cancer Research and Endeavour on a number of corporate social responsibility initiatives.
