Leading accountancy and business advisory firm Cowgills, part of top 11 UK accountancy group Sumer, has strengthened its VAT offering with the appointment of Michelle Dale as VAT Director.
Michelle joins Cowgills from Cooper Parry, having previously spent more than 20 years with UHY, and brings extensive VAT experience advising businesses across a wide range of sectors.
Michelle has particular expertise in the automotive and land and property sectors and will work closely with VAT Partner Paul Hammond and the wider VAT team, to support the growing Cowgills client base across the North West.
Michelle said: “What really attracted me to Cowgills was the people-focused culture and the opportunity to get back to working closely with owner-managed businesses.
“I really enjoy becoming part of a client’s journey, particularly working with businesses from an early stage, building long-term relationships, helping them navigate the challenges that come with growth and seeing them develop right through to an eventual exit.
“I’m looking forward to bringing my VAT experience to those relationships and working alongside Paul and colleagues across the firm.”
Lisa Wilson, Head of Tax at Cowgills, said: “Michelle is a fantastic addition to Cowgills and brings a huge amount of specialist VAT knowledge and experience.
“Working closely with clients, supporting their ambition to achieve the very best value from the businesses they have worked so hard to build, is at the heart of the Cowgills proposition.
“We have an incredibly entrepreneurial client base and Michelle’s experience, approach and passion for working with owner-managed businesses make her a great fit for Cowgills.”
Michelle is actively involved in the wider profession and is a member of the ICAEW VAT Committee, the Manchester Branch Committee of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) and the VAT Practitioners Group. She also sits on the committee of Northern Women in Tax.
Michelle will be based in the Cowgills Bolton office and will work with clients across the firm’s North West office network.
Cowgills continues to expand its presence across the region, with offices in Bolton, Manchester, Liverpool, Wigan and Stockport.
