Cowgills Tax Investigation Service – tax inspectors ramping up activity

It is fair to say that HMRC have adopted a ‘go-slow’ approach in so far as tax enquiries are concerned since the coronavirus pandemic hit and indeed enquiries which were started at around the start of the pandemic have been put on hold until now.

But the enormous and ever-increasing government debt will somehow have to be repaid and HMRC will be under pressure to find anomalies, raise assessments and recoup as much money as possible.

We have been expecting tax inspectors to ramp up their activity and in the past week we have had several clients with whom HMRC have been in touch regarding an impending enquiry or restarting an existing enquiry.

It doesn’t matter whether you have done anything wrong – any business can be selected by HMRC for an investigation.

Cowgills TIS gives you the peace of mind that in the event of an HMRC tax investigation you are not only protected against the professional costs but could also avoid a huge tax bill.

There is a small annual charge which covers our fees associated with an HMRC enquiry. The enquiry could relate to corporation tax, VAT or PAYE.
