Leading North West accountants Cowgill Holloway recently co-hosted a recruitment leaders’ event, in partnership with NatWest, JMW and I-COM at an event in Manchester.
The event which saw more than 40 delegates attend – from across the region’s recruitment sector – saw informative presentations from industry experts; Paul Stringer, Corporate Finance Partner at Cowgill Holloway, JMW’s, Liz Cotton and I-COM’s Head of Client Recruitment, Anna Gibbons.
Each of the presenters talked to the delegates on ways to maximise the value of their business. Paul Stringer opened the event, advising recruitment business owners on what they need to do to present their business in its best light to potential acquirers, and what to look for when searching for a business to acquire. Paul used stories from his vast experience in buying and selling businesses in the recruitment sector.
Paul Stringer, Corporate Finance Partner said: “It was great to see so many leaders from the recruitment industry at the event. Having worked with the recruitment sector over the last 10 years we have built a specialism, and really understand the specific issues they face within their sector – it’s great to be able to provide these entrepreneurial business people with some advice they can take away and hopefully utilise.
“Many businesses only start to consider their exit strategies when they’re thinking of leaving the business – to really maximise the value of their business, we suggest planning a few years in advance to ensure their “house is in order”.
Liz Cotton, Partner at JMW then explained why businesses need to ensure their employment contracts are up to date and fit for purpose, and the ramifications for outdated contracts and agreements.
Closing the event was marketing agency I-COM’s Anna Gibbons, who explained the importance of building a brand which people recognise, and the importance of your brand without relying on you as a business owner.
